Fines for Driving Without VTV in Buenos Aires

If driving without the Technical Vehicle Verification (VTV) up to date in the City of Buenos Aires, you risk receiving a fine ranging from $15,000 to $30,000. It is essential to have the VTV updated to ensure safe circulation on the streets.

The amount of the fine varies depending on several factors, such as the time elapsed since the last verification, the general condition of the vehicle, and whether it is detained during a control. In case of recurrence, the fine can be doubled.

In other provinces of Argentina, such as Córdoba and Mendoza, similar penalties apply for not having the VTV up to date. In Córdoba, the fine reaches $31,000, and in Mendoza, with the recent increase in 2025, it can rise to $42,000. Control operations tend to be frequent in these regions.

To carry out the VTV, various documents must be presented according to the official website of the City of Buenos Aires: valid DNI, valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, proof of payment for the appointment, and if necessary, the green or blue card for vehicles, and green and/or pink card for motorcycles, in case a third party presents.

It is essential to have an email address and the vehicle ownership title to carry out the process. Once completed, an email is received with a reservation code and another to download the corresponding receipt.

The annual vehicle verification is not only necessary to comply with regulations but also to avoid setbacks and costly fines. Depending on the jurisdiction, economic penalties for driving without the updated VTV may vary.
